Pitching Ideas for A New Crime Drama
Name: ‘Most Wanted’
I decided to name my Crime Drama this as it can have an ambiguous meaning.
1- Most wanted is associated with crime & the criminals being the most wanted.
2- The three protagonist women could be ‘most wanted’ due to their looks and personality.

Type of Crime Drama: Soap Opera/Investigative However, unlike the majority of Soap Operas, it would be a specialist audience so that I wouldn’t have many restrictions whilst creating it.
Characters: 3 women protagonists that solve crime working with the law.
Structure of Show:Serial structure- the story would develop over 6 weeks showing an episode per week; Each episode being 1 hour long. The crime would only get solved on the sixth episode.
Typical NarrativeMy Crime Drama would be a restrictive narrative which would create tension and a build up throughout all of the six episodes. The audience would only know as much as the characters did which would enable them to come to their own conclusion as to who committed the crime, how it was committed and what was happening.

SchedulingMy crime drama would be played on ITV1 every Wednesday night at 9.30 after the post-water shed of 9pm. This is because it could include some traces of strong language, violence, gore and scenes of a sexual nature which wouldn’t be appropriate or suitable for those of a younger audience. It will be aired on ITV1 because it is an British crime drama where as American crime dramas tend to be aired on a channel such as Channel 5.
Target Audience‘Most Wanted’ is aimed at young adults and teenagers that have an interest in crime & investigations or just get a general enjoyment for Crime Dramas. It would be for those in the social classes C1, C2 and D/Middle Class.
Similar Shows: There is no Crime Dramas televised at the moment that are similar to mine however it does include conventions from other crime dramas such as ‘The Bill’ and ‘Sherlock’.

USP: My unique selling point would be the ‘attractive’ women that are used for as the three protagonists; this allows it to appeal to men and women. Also it would be very gripping and end on a cliff hanger to ensure the audiences would watch it the following week to raise views.
